Warner Bros take term ‘Viral Marketing’ to new (gross) level with Contagion billboard made out of Bacteria.
Ew? Yes. Cool? Definitely.
Animated Short of the Day: Eyrie — a wonderfully animated short by CalArts alum / recent Dreamworks hire David Wolter, with a touching twist ending worthy of M. Night Shyamalan in a world where M. Night Shyamalan makes good movies.
All great films, advertisements and products start with great stories. This is a masterclass in storytelling without dialogue, and with only the simplest animation.
Get the story right, and the medium, the budget and the technique won’t matter :)
Less Is More of the Day: Entrants in the Philips-sponsored constrained cinema competition “Tell It Your Way” were restricted to six lines of dialogue: “What is that?,” “It’s a unicorn,” “Never seen one up close before,” “Beautiful,” “Get away, get away,” and “I’m sorry.”
Keegan Wilcox’s Porcelain Unicorn, hand-picked as the Grand Prize Winner by director Ridley Scott, is making the rounds again today, and it’s certainly worth a second (and third, and fourth, and tenth) glance.
