#FAIL of the week: Nivea pulls ‘Racist’ print campaign after social media storm
A Nivea print ad encouraging African-American men to “re-civilize” themselves, now appearing in September’s issue of Esquire magazine, created a firestorm of tweets, Facebook updates and blog posts accusing the brand of racism.
Nivea have now pulled the ad and released an official apology.
How an ad can get past a room of people without somebody saying, ‘hey, er… this is pretty racist…’ is beyond us. Massive, massive fail.
